Cubic Mission and Performance Solutions (CMPS) has seconded a low-form factor (SFF) radio task from the United States Air Force (USAF).
At a cost of about $ 10 million, the contract was awarded under an indefinite supply contract and an indefinite quantity (IDIQ) for the data link company (DLE).
The latest contract will allow Cubic to develop two prototype variants, SFF Software Defined Radio (SDR) and a common Open Mission Systems / Open Communication Subsystem (OMS / OCS) 3U VPX Air Data Terminal (ADT).
According to the company, Cubic will develop an SFF SDR for the dismantled squad, and the OMS / OCS 3U VPX ADT variant will allow the exchange of many types of information and formats, such as full-motion video (FMV).
In addition, Cubic will focus on SFF Phase 2 radio component miniaturization and packaging technology.

Cubic said it will use its expertise in secure communications solutions to develop and demonstrate advanced capabilities for the Air Force that help minimize size, weight, power and cost (SWaP-C).
In June 2019, Cubic Mission Solutions (CMS) received ask USAF to develop and demonstrate a prototype of SFF Radio for DLE.
