According to a press release issued by the embassy in honor of World Anti-Trafficking Day (TIP), which is celebrated on July 30 each year, the US TIP 2020 report earlier this year raised Liberia’s TIP status to that of Tier 2.
“This change was a direct result of Liberia’s commitment and hard work to stop human trafficking. Liberia has made great strides in the fight against human trafficking and is ready to make even more progress in the coming years,” the US Embassy said. he says. It states that the Department of International Drug Enforcement and Law Enforcement (INL) of the United States Embassy in Monrovia will continue to work closely with its executive partners, Liberian law enforcement agencies, the Department of Justice and the Department of Labor to end human trafficking in Liberia.
The theme of World Anti-Trafficking Day 2020 is “committed to the cause – work on the front to stop human trafficking”.
The message says that this year’s theme seeks to draw attention to those organizations and individuals who work tirelessly to stop human trafficking around the world.
The US embassy says it would like to recognize law enforcement, social workers, health professionals, NGO workers and many others working in Liberia and around the world to protect the vulnerable.

On 18 December 2013, the UN General Assembly declared 30 July World Anti-Trafficking Day to raise awareness of the situation of victims of human trafficking and to promote and protect their rights.
