EDGE introduces new protected Rabdan ambulance at WDS 2022

The Rabdan ambulance was unveiled on the first day of the World Defense Expo held in Riyadh.

A division of EDGE Group, AL JASOOR, the UAE armored vehicle specialist, unveiled a new variant of its Rabdan 8×8 Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) – the Rabdan Ambulance – on the first day of the World Defense Expo held in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia .

The new configuration is uniquely designed to provide off-road mobility and mine-resistant, ambush-protected (MRAP) level protection to military medics on ambulatory missions in high-threat environments.

Dr Jasem Al Zaabi, Acting CEO, AL JASOOR, said: “The Rabdan Ambulance combines best-in-class off-road mobility with a life-saving crew protection system for emergency medical services in landscapes too harsh to ordinary ambulances. Like the Rabdan 8×8, its innovative design protects occupants during operations in high-risk environments.

“Having a high degree of similarity to the Rabdan 8×8 platform, the ambulance variant reduces costs for our customers, meets the demands of modern warfare and optimizes value for all operational requirements.” The Rabdan 8×8 ambulance provides emergency evacuation capabilities while protecting patients and medics with optimal protection against enemy fire, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and other battlefield threats. An impressive powertrain and military-grade drive means this vehicle can handle front formations, even in the harshest terrain.

Along with a design that protects crew and patients from the deadliest threats, the Rabdan ambulance features a raised roof and a large interior volume configured with extensive medical equipment. With space for medics to maneuver, the vehicle has capacity for up to nine personnel, including medics and patients.
