Infosys to set up new digital development centre in Canada, Telecom News, ET Telecom

Basic IT services Infosys on Wednesday he said he would create a new one digital development center in its largest Canadian office in Mississauga, a move that will help create 500 high – quality jobs in Toronto region over the next three years. Covering nearly 50,000 square feet and bringing significant investment from Infosys to the country, this digital development center will train, enhance and retrain employees in the technology needed to help Canadian businesses accelerate their digital transformation, the statement said. This will also enable Infosys to better collaborate with customers to develop cross-functional solutions to pressing business challenges, he added.

Infosys, in the Toronto region, currently serves businesses in the financial services, healthcare, communications, retail and natural resources sectors.

The center will help nurture and expand key capabilities in artificial intelligence, data science, automation and machine learning, the statement said.

In response to growing demand for training, retraining and employer training, Infosys has previously committed to doubling its Canadian workforce to 4,000 employees by 2023.

The Center for Digital Development will play a key role in this expansion and will guide the building of digital opportunities and training for the next generation of IT talents in support of Canadian business.

He added that the region has an abundance of talent and high-tech know-how, has real capacity for new workplace development strategies and many of Infosys’ customers are based here.

“Even better, it will allow us to be part of an ecosystem that reaches the entire region, connecting the private sector with innovative research and teaching institutions in Canada,” he said.

While the digital development center is the first of its kind in Canada for Infosys, it is based on the proven model of six similar digital centers in the United States, which recruit from local colleges and provide training and digital career paths.

Infosys said it has seen exponential growth in Canada and is committed to strengthening its presence and hiring the best technology talent in major malls.

Over the past two years, Infosys has created thousands of jobs in Toronto, Vancouver, Ottawa, Montreal and more recently in Calgary.

The company recruits alumni from more than 14 local universities, such as the University of Toronto and the University of Waterloo, to build a strong line of technical talent.
