Spain awarded a supply contract to Elbit Systems E-LynX software defined radios (SDR) to the Spanish Army.
The capability supports multi-channel network capacity and provides dynamic and autonomous configurations depending on mission requirements.
The radios will be manufactured and maintained in Spain. Once deployed, the technology will enable “fast, sustainable and secure communications on any terrain.”
In addition, the radio stations will be equipped with the country’s national crypto architecture in partnership with the local telecommunications company Telefonica.
Spanish Sovereign Radio
The agreement is part of the program of the Spanish General Directorate of Armaments and Materials for the urgent acquisition of multi/ultra high frequency SDR radio equipment. Read also : Paris Becomes the First European Capital To Ban Rented Electric Scooters.
The contract follows Madrid’s deals with Elbit in 2020 and 2021 to integrate the radios into combat battalions and 8X8 Dragon vehicles.
