SAMI Launches New Software Defined Radio Systems Production Line in Contribution to the Saudi Vision 2030 :: I-Connect007

In collaboration with the Ministry of Defense and the support of the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI), SAMI, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Saudi Arabia’s national champion in the defense industry, is excited to announce its recent efforts to strengthening the Saudi defense industry by opening a new production line dedicated to software-defined multi-band radio (SDR) systems. This production line, in collaboration with L3Harris Technologies and SAMIL3Harris Joint Venture, has been established at SAMI-AEC, a decades-long national leader in electronic manufacturing capabilities, which will manufacture these industry-leading radio systems locally in Riyadh.

Eng.Walid A. Abukhaled, CEO of SAMI, spoke with pride about this partnership, highlighting not only its role in strengthening ties with global defense industry pioneer L3Harris, but also demonstrating the company’s commitment to both organizations for significant progress of local capacity in this key focus area. He further noted, “This venture plays an important role in pursuing the Saudi 2030 Vision directive to localize 50% of the Kingdom’s defense spending, which will also contribute to increasing local content and our continued partnership with the Royal Saudi Land Forces. SAMI is committed to providing cutting-edge technology while growing and developing local talent and capabilities.”

Eng Ziad Al-Musalam, CEO of SAMI-AEC, reiterated the company’s unwavering commitment to strengthening the Saudi defense manufacturing landscape through strategic alliances, with plans to expand this collaboration. This approach aligns seamlessly with our vision of indigenous technologies tailored to the defense sector. He proudly highlighted the company’s achievements in creating the premier component of Software Defined Radio (SDR) systems and emphasized its key role in expanding the capabilities of the Royal Saudi Arabian Land Forces.

SAMI and L3Harris began a joint journey focused on electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) technologies, along with special mission systems in Saudi Arabia. Building a strong relationship, the two entities opened this latest venture, cementing their mutual commitment to localize the world’s best technology through ongoing collaboration.
