Newswire & Press Release / Thales Successfully Showcases its Military Radio Communications for the Spanish Army’s Force 2035 Experimentation Plan – Military / Defense / Homeland Security – Thales Group
Thales successfully conducted various tests that demonstrated the ability to integrate its radio communications solutions with army command and control systems for command network use cases, both at brigade level and at lower levels. Tests of software-defined SYNAP (SDR) radios and Line-of-Sight solutions have shown full compatibility and new capabilities implemented in control and communication systems implemented and used, such as BMS (Battlefield Management System) and PR4G radios, or will be in near future from the army.
These tests were conducted as part of the Spanish Army’s 2035 experimentation plan, while supporting multimedia services in video, voice and other data. They were conducted under the direction, coordination and supervision of the Technical Assistance for Information and Telecommunication Systems of the Spanish Army (JCISAT) and in the presence of staff observers from the Army Academy of Engineering (ACING), the National Cryptological Center (CCN) and the Directorate General of Arms. and materials ”(DGAM).
To do this, Spanish Thales teams used a variety of communication solutions and systems to meet current and future command capability needs. The technology presented during the experiment covers various military radio communication solutions: SDR (Software Defined Radio) SYNAPS dual-channel / dual-band radio (VHF / UHF) and the TN4110 module, offering visibility and demonstrating our ability to operate in a wide bandwidth on the go. .
The tests demonstrated the capabilities of SYNAPS radios with the current VHF GEOMUX signal form located on PR4G, as well as with ESSOR European Protected Software Radio HDR WF (High Data Rate Waveform), a UHF signal form brought by the ESSOR program in which Spain participates, now funded by 6 European countries. The tests confirmed the high data capacity of the ESSOR HDR WF and its full adaptability to Spanish operational requirements, while ensuring full interoperability with the 6 European countries that developed it. The waveform of the ESSOR will soon be further funded by the ESSOR countries and the European defense funds for the forthcoming phase of the program, reaching new capacity.
Interoperability with army-based PR4G radios has also been demonstrated, as the new voice group capabilities provide significant savings in both the number of in-vehicle radios and frequencies. SYNAPS radios offer much more efficient electromagnetic spectrum management, allowing high network compression and optimal capacity / performance ratio with very robust ECCM (Electronic Countermeasures) measures.
