Israel’s Elbit wins $338m. contract for Swiss advanced army radio system
Based in Haifa defense company Elbit Systems won a $ 338 million contract to supply advanced communications solutions to the Swiss Armed Forces. The contract was awarded by the Swiss Federal Ministry of Defense, Civil Defense and Sports on Thursday. It provides a tactical mobile network solution with software-defined radio (SDR) for the Swiss digital program for the Swiss Armed Forces. The six-year contract was awarded after more than three years of extensive technical and field assessments by the Federal Defense Procurement Service and the Swiss Armed Forces. The proposed digital mobile networking solution is based on the E-LynX ™ SDR family of open architecture, which allows fast, reliable and secure communication through the Swiss Armed Forces, Elbit said in a press release. According to Chaim Delmar, General Manager of Elbit Systems C4I and Cyber: “Switzerland is a strategic market for us and we will continue our efforts to support the Swiss Armed Forces and expand our cooperation with Swiss industry. This procurement highlights the growing recognition by the European Armed Forces of the E-LynX mobile SDR solution as a preferred factor for advanced military mobile networks and digitalisation. “
