embedded computing adaptive waveform processing SOSA-aligned
GERMANTOWN, Md. – Military communications experts from Herrick Technology Laboratories Inc. in Germantown, Md., needed high-performance built-in calculations for adaptive waveform processing applications. They found their solution from Wolf Advanced Technology in Stouffville, Ontario.
Wolf will supply the VPX3U-RTX5000-SWITCH module, adapted to the company’s Open Sensor Open Systems (SOSA) architecture for Herrick’s waveform applications.
The module will include the NVIDIA Quadro RTX 5000 graphics processor and switch the capabilities of the PCI Express Gen 4 and 10 Gigabit Ethernet backplane to a slot-saving solution in 3U VPX systems.

NVIDIA Quadro RTX 5000 GPU offers up to 11 terraFLOP processing power and 384 AI Tensor cores for high performance built-in calculations (HPEC) applications that include radar, artificial intelligence and intelligence.
“Initially, we considered creating our own SOSA-aligned The PCIe Gen 4 switch combines with a GPU module using NVIDIA MXM modules, but we decided to partner with WOLF because of their experience with NVIDIA chip-down technology, which provides significantly better performance, ”says Robert Normoil, Herrick’s scientist. .
“We were also impressed with WOLF’s endurance experience to make commercial GPUs work efficiently in extreme temperatures, shocks and vibrations,” says Normoil. The Wolf module “adds significant new performance and flexibility to our highly efficient multifunctional RF VPX systems. ”
