Epiq Solutions, an engineering firm specializing in the development of flexible RF transceivers and complete off-the-shelf wireless sensor solutions, recently introduced the Sidekiq NV100, a small software-defined radio (SDR) transceiver that enables simultaneous processing of multi-channel signals at challenging RF frequencies environments.
Epiq’s first SDR product to use Analog Devices’ ADRV9004 wideband RFIC transceiver, the Sidekiq NV100 module provides advanced RF tuning capabilities as well as improved RF accuracy and instantaneous dynamic range. Multiple RF operation modes are supported, including single-channel 1x Rx plus 1x Tx FDD/TDD, dual-channel phase-coherent Rx or Tx, and dual-channel independently tunable Rx or Tx. Pre-selected Rx filtering is automatically, intelligently configured by Epiq Solutions’ libsidekiq API.
While other solutions must connect to a bulky external filter mechanism, the Sidekiq NV100 integrates built-in Rx preselection filters and a GPS-disciplined oscillator (GPSDO) into its small package, providing improved performance and allowing customers to save space and reduce their size of the product or freeing up space for other technological needs.
With an M.2 2280 Key M form factor measuring only 22 x 80 mm, the Sidekiq NV100 can be used in any small computing platform such as a laptop or tablet, making it ideal for electronic warfare (EW) on the move, signals intelligence applications (SIGINT) and command, control, communications, computers, cyber, intelligence and reconnaissance (C5ISR).
Platform Development Kits (PDKs) are available that include one Sidekiq NV100 integrated into an Intel NUC computer running Linux (to serve as a reference development platform) as well as a second NV100 card mounted to a Thunderbolt 3 development board .
