Elbit Systems Ltd has been awarded a contract to supply the E-LynX software-defined radio solution for the Spanish Army’s combat battalion level.
A statement revealed that the new battalion-level radio network is the first step in a program to modernize Spain’s combat radio network. The solution to be delivered includes hundreds of E-LynX SDR handheld systems for dismounted soldiers and vehicle systems that will be installed aboard a range of combat platforms. “The contract, which is of an amount not material to Elbit Systems, will be executed in cooperation with Telefonica, SA within a period of six months,” the statement said.
The E-LynX choice The SDR solution follows competitive technical and field evaluations carried out by the General Directorate of Armaments and Materials (DGAM) of the Spanish Ministry of Defense, including a careful study of the ability to implement future waveforms and to meet strict security standards and protection against jamming requirements . The E-LynX SDR solution that Elbit Systems will provide to the Spanish Army is similar to solutions that have recently been selected by several other countries, including Switzerland, Sweden and Israel, as radio solutions for their Army Mobile Network Modernization programs.
Chaim Delmar, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Elbit Systems C4I and Cyber, said: “We are proud of this prestigious selection as it highlights the growing recognition of E-LynX as the SDR solution of choice in Europe.
