I think they exaggerate their power and significance. I don’t think 10,000 or 20,000 people who will go down to Nkandla on the day the central things happen … will accompany the president to prison can stop this from happening. All threats from wars like Carl Niehaus will reach zero …

My first reaction was to sadness for President Zuma as a human being that he now had to go to prison. Also sadness at the fact that it could have been avoided. I don’t know how he was advised … but you are right that from the point of view of democracy in the country this is an important moment …
