Potential for Canada to Ban SDR Devices

Out of concern for devices like Pinball Zero which can record and reproduce wireless signals used for remote keyless entry into cars, Public Safety Canada is proposes a ban on such devices which may include software defined radios (SDRs).

Pursuing all opportunities to ban devices used to steal vehicles by copying wireless remote keyless entry signals, such as the Flipper Zero, which will allow these devices to be removed from the Canadian market through cooperation with law enforcement.

Flipper Zero has evidence requested that their devices were used in criminal activity, suggesting that there are currently none.
