Close To Half of American Adults Favor TikTok Ban, Poll Shows
According to a new Reuters/Ipsos survey, nearly half of American adults support banning TikTok. From the report: TikTok, owned by Chinese tech giant ByteDance and used by tens of millions of Americans, has faced calls from US lawmakers for a national ban over concerns of possible Chinese government influence. About 47 percent of respondents in the two-day poll, which ended Tuesday, said they at least somewhat supported “banning the social media app, TikTok, from use in the United States,” while 36 percent opposed the ban and 17 percent said they did not. they knew.
Fifty-eight percent of Republicans support the ban, compared to 47% of Democrats, the survey found. The Reuters/Ipsos online poll was conducted nationwide, collecting responses from 1,005 adults, including 443 Democrats and 346 Republicans. Last month, a Pew Research Center survey found that a majority of Americans (59%) believe that social media apps are a threat to the national security of the United States.
