A former Sheriff’s deputy who is facing over a dozen felony charges is released on bond

Brian Helfert, 57, faces 16 charges of sexually abusing a minor. The allegations stem from an alleged six-year history of sexual assault and ill-treatment of a student victim whom Helfort was supposed to mentor.
