South African govt invests ZAR 19 mln in 2 nanosatellites for maritime purposes
The Ministry of Science and Innovation (DSI) has invested 18.9 million ZAR in the development of two nanosatellites aimed at raising maritime awareness in South Africa, BusinessTech reports. The department said funding was channeled through the Agency for Technological Innovation (TIA), a DSI entity, to the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT). According to him, over the years the university has developed advanced nanosatellites and cube satellites (CubeSats), demonstrating advanced technological capabilities in the country’s space industry.
