Reliance Jio partners with Spirent to validate cloud-native 5G core network

NEW DELHI: Spirent Communications, a network testing and security company, said it was cooperating Reliance Industries Limited’s subsidiary, Jio Platforms, to confirm its birth in the cloud 5G Autonomous (SA) core network for real scenario and traffic conditions using the Spirent Landslide testing system.

In close collaboration with Spirent, Jio uses Landslide to conduct core network capacity tests, measure device data bandwidth and model a wide variety of end-user behavioral conversation models and mobility scenarios, the official said. statement.

According to Jio platforms, the deployment of 5G SA core network is vital to realizing the true potential of fifth-generation wireless mobile technology.

“Jio had to test the performance of its internal 5G core networking features while supporting LTE 4G and IMS interfaces,” said Peter Tan, Spirent’s vice president and general manager for the APAC region. “Landslide provided the perfect solution by supporting 5G-core interfaces and, thanks to Landslide’s built-in test suite, drastically reducing testing time.”

The statement added that Landslide had successfully validated Jio’s native 5G core network for heavy signaling and data plane loading using hardware acceleration technology as well as backup LTE support, while providing HD Voice support on the new radio. (VoNR).

This helped Jio subject its “entire IP network” to 5G and VoNR-based stand-alone tests and neighborhood. The landslide also confirmed compliance with 3GPP features.

“Our cooperation with Spirent is an important part of achieving this goal. Landslide is a gold reference worldwide for validating 5G core networks for functionality and performance, allowing us to successfully test every aspect of the 5G stand-alone core network – including networking, eMBB, MMTC and uRLLC services. We look forward to using the Landslide capabilities to validate various 5G usage cases with Jio 5G solutions, ”added Aayush Batnagar, senior vice president at Jio Platforms.

Today’s development follows Jio Platforms’ partnership with Dutch chipmaker NXP Semiconductors, in which Jio will incorporate NXP’s Layerscape family of multi-core processors into its 5G new radio (NR) O-RAN small cell solution to power new RANs.

Jio says it has built a full home 5G stack to accelerate the deployment of next-generation network services.

“Jio engineers have developed a 100% home-grown and comprehensive 5G solution that is fully cloud-based, software-defined and digitally managed. Jio has made tremendous progress in maturing this state-of-the-art 5G technology, which means a quantum leap to the next wireless broadband limit connection, “said the chairman of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) Ambani during the recent 44th annual RIL general meeting.

Reliance Jio, the Mukesh Ambani-led telecommunications company recently launched its 5G test network using its own 5G equipment and technology in Navi Mumbai.

Gio had applied for tests in Delhi, Mumbai, Gujarat and Hyderabad.

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) recently allocated 5G test spectrum in the 700 MHz, 3.5 GHz and 26 GHz bands to Airtel, Reliance Jio and Vodafone Idea (Vi) to develop India-friendly applications for next-generation high-speed wireless broadband radio technology.
