Lisa Monaco Calls for Increased Private Sector Engagement to Address Cyberthreats

Deputy Prosecutor General Lisa of Monaco said companies should contact the Ministry of Justice and other law enforcement agencies counteracting ransomware and other cyber threats and preventing other businesses from becoming future victims of ransomware attacks.

“We know that these victims – often your clients – are facing reputational risks, they are facing operational risks, but in the end we see a risk to life and livelihood. “Given the stakes, we need this commitment from the victim companies and we need it early,” Monaco said on Wednesday at a roundtable on cybersecurity at the Justice Department’s criminal unit.

She said the Ministry of Justice has made several efforts to address cyber threats, including Civic initiative for cyberism, National Cryptocurrency Enforcement Team and Working Group on Ransomware and Digital Extortion.

Monaco also cites the objectives of the comprehensive cyber review and they assess how to improve the ability to investigate, interrupt and prosecute those involved in threats and build cyber resilience as a multinational organization.
