Firefighters climbing Carrauntoohill to raise money for three-year-old girl’s life-changing surgery

Members of the Dublin fire department are climbing today in full Carrauntoohill equipment to raise money for an operation on a three-year-old girl with cerebral palsy.

Sienna is from Dublin and will travel to the United States in three weeks for a life-changing SDR (selective dorsal rhizotomy) operation, which is not being performed in Ireland.

Her family is raising funds to help with the costs of the procedure, and her mother, Leslie Ann, says they have so far been overwhelmed with the help of people in Ireland.

Seven members of the Dublin fire brigade, including Sienna Ciaran’s father, climbed Carrauntoohill today with full 23kg fire engines and breathing apparatus to raise funds.

Leslie Ann encourages people to donate what they can, as the operation will change her daughter’s life.
