Defence ministry, BEL ink pact to procure ship-borne modern radio system

The Ministry of Defense on Monday signed a contract with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) for the supply of software-defined a tactical ship system worth over Rs 1,000, according to an official statement.

The delivery of SDR-Tac (software defined tactically) “will bring strategic depth to the armed forces,” the defense ministry said in a statement.

SDR-Tac is a four-channel multi-mode, multi-band, 19-inch trunk-mounted, ship-defined software system, she said.

“It is designed to service ship-to-ship, shore-to-shore and ship-to-air voice and data communications for network operations,” the statement said.
