Cubic to Develop Small Form Factor Radio Prototypes for Air Force; Mike Knowles Quoted

Cubic has secured a $ 10 million contract for the U.S. Air Force to develop two prototypes Low phase radio phase technologies 2.

The company said Monday that its mission solution and performance business will work on an option to define SFF software and a common open missionary / open communications subsystem 3U VPX Air Data Terminal.

The SFF SDR unit will connect descending flight crews with other combatants, while OMSOCS 3U VPX ADT technology allows the exchange of full-motion videos and other data formats.

Cubic noted that it will use its experience in secure communication platforms to build radios with reduced size, weight, power and cost.

President of Cubic Mission and Performance Solutions Mike Knowles said the company’s proposal has a protected waveform that meets the requirements of a branch of the air-to-ground communications service, while ensuring the safety of combatants.

SFF Radio Phase 2 is part of the Air Force’s data communications efforts to help the military process command and control data and other information.
