Raytheon’s Technologies’ Collins Aerospace the business received a pair of contracts worth $ 21 million, combined by the US Air Force to develop two open architectures software defined radio systems for data processing over a multi-node network.
Collins said Tuesday that it aims to help the service branch connect data from ground and air platforms through software-programmable agile radio for tactically connected ubiquitous systems and software-programmable flexible radio frequency tactical air network programs.
USAF SPARTACUS and SPARTAN programs are looking for technology to transmit large arrays of data such as images and video in multiple waveforms.
The first radio system is designed to connect terrestrial and air connections, while the second system is designed to facilitate the simultaneous operation of the waveform for critical connectivity.
Both radio stations will have a common design that is designed to support satellite communications outside the line of sight and multidirectional directional data connections.
