Astrapi Corporation awarded a United States Air Force (USAF) AFVentures Phase II contract. | Texas
DALAS,, October 25, 2021 / PRNewswire-PRWeb / – Astrapi Corporation received a phase II SBIR contract from the US Air Force. This agreement was issued with the support of the US Space Force Headquarters (USSF).
The new contract is based on Astrapi’s advanced signal protection capability, Symbol Waveform Hopping (SWH). Astrapi recently completed the Catalyst Cyber Space Competitive Program, sponsored by the Air Force / Space Vehicle Research Laboratory, with admission based on the interest of the space and air forces in SWH. This project reflects the extension of Astrapi validation provided by the Catalyst program.
Astrapi has partnered with Space Micro, Inc. to demonstrate SWH’s application to Space Micro’s production software-defined radios (SDRs) as an enhancement option for future orders. Space Micro SDRs are space-qualified and are key elements in both commercial and DoD programs, such as the SDA Tranche 0 transport layer.
Prior to the program and previously released to the public, Astrapi announced the issuance of a U.S. patent № 10,931,403, “Communication Devices, Systems, Software and Methods Using Symbol Wave Skipping” of February 23, 2021. This is the fifteenth patent issued by Astrapi in the United States.
Symbol Waveform Hopping (SWH) is a new communication technology to protect the signal of the physical layer. This is analogous to frequency hopping (FH), but uniquely SWH is in the time domain and protects the transmission by resolution against the bottom of the noise.
Symbol Waveform Hopping uses the huge space to design the waveform of symbols, which is typical of Astrapi’s patented spiral modulation technology. Astrapi has developed the use of polynomial symbol wave alphabets (PSW), in which each short message (“symbol”) corresponds to a specific polynomial with a limited band. By creating many PSW alphabets, SWH allows switching between PSW alphabets in a pseudo-random process known only to the sender and the intended recipient.
This technology represents a major derivative of Astrapi’s spiral modulation capability. Astrapi continues to make fundamental improvements to the core physical layer of the communications stack. SWH is widely used in many sectors.
Dr. Gerold Protero, founder and CEO of Astrapi Corporation, said: “We are very excited to begin work on the transition from Symbol Waveform Hopping to space micro-software-defined radio, which enables a transforming signal protection capability that meets the needs of space forces. USA. Symbol Waveform Hopping provides an advanced capability for complete signal protection without the latency and power of standard encryption. Skipping the shape of the symbol is equivalent to forcing potential signal interceptors to recognize an image that is smaller than their pixel size. No calculation can improve the resolution. We look forward to partnering with Space Micro to transfer this unique capability to a deployed, space-qualified software-defined radio platform. “
David Strobel, co-founder and CEO of Space Micro said: “Space Micro is excited to work with Astrapi to further secure SATCOM transmission. Symbol Waveform Hopping promises to complement our production Ka-Band software-defined radio transceiver, as well as our other UHF, S- and X-band radios. “
FOR Astrapi Corporation
Astrapi is the pioneer of spiral modulation, symbol jumping and other opportunities that open up unexplored areas of innovation at the heart of telecommunications. Currently, Astrapi has issued fifteen patents in the United States, with more pending and with the corresponding international patent coverage. Based on a summary of Euler’s formula, the basic mathematics of telecommunications, Astrapi provides fundamentally new ways to optimize spectrum use, new ways to securely transmit signals, and new ways to measure non-stationary spectrum. By applying this new mathematics to signal modulation, Astrapi is able to improve the trade-off between the four main parameters in telecommunications: bandwidth, signal strength, data throughput and error rate. The obtained efficiency is expressed in higher spectral productivity with more available bits at a lower price. Derivative technologies support unique capabilities for signal protection and accurate field measurement of real non-stationary spectra. Additional information on http://www.astrapi-corp.com
