Alex Wyglinski Appointed Associate Dean of Graduate Studies | News

WPI appointed a professor Alex Виглинскi, an internationally recognized expert in wireless communications and autonomous vehicles and director of Wireless Innovation Lab, for associate dean of Postgraduate. The appointment took effect on July 1, 2021.

“I am very excited about this new opportunity that allows me to continue to contribute to the WPI community, especially with new efforts to increase the level of industrial support for our PhD students,” said Wiglinski, a professor of Electrical engineering and Robotics.

Terry Camesano, a professor of chemical engineering and dean of postgraduate studies, said Wiglinsky was a strong mentor and advocate for WPI students. “Alex will be particularly focused on helping to facilitate student engagement with industry partners,” she said. “These applied research projects really help to enhance the career outcomes of our graduate students and contribute to solutions to important societal challenges.”

Wyglinski is an expert in cognitive radio, 5G / 6G, related vehicles, software-defined radio, dynamic spectrum access, spectrum coexistence, satellite communications, automotive technology, optimization and adaptation of wireless systems, machine learning for wireless communications and cyber- physical systems.

During his academic career, he has published approximately 50 journal articles, more than 125 conference papers, nine book chapters and three textbooks. His many accomplishments include working as a former president of the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society. He is a senior member of the IEEE, as well as a member of Sigma Xi, Eta Kappa Nu and ASEE.
