SAMI launches new software defined Radio systems production line

Riyadh: In collaboration with the Ministry of Defense and the support of the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI), Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), is excited to announce its recent efforts to strengthening the Saudi defense industry by opening a new production line dedicated to software-defined multi-band radio (SDR) systems.

This production line, in collaboration with L3Harris Technologies and SAMIL3Harris Joint Venture, has been established at SAMI-AEC, a decades-long national leader in electronic manufacturing capabilities, which will manufacture these industry-leading radio systems locally in Riyadh.

Eng.Walid A. Abukhaled, CEO of SAMI, spoke with pride about this partnership, highlighting not only its role in strengthening ties with global defense industry pioneer L3Harris, but also demonstrating the company’s commitment to both organizations for significant progress of local capacity in this key focus area.

He further noted, “This venture plays an important role in pursuing the Saudi 2030 Vision directive to localize 50% of the Kingdom’s defense spending, which will also contribute to increasing local content and our continued partnership with the Royal Saudi Land Forces. SAMI is committed to providing cutting-edge technology while growing and developing local talent and capabilities.”
