DHS S&T Unveils Research Strategy for Artificial Intelligence; Kathryn Coulter Mitchell Quoted

The Department of Science and Technology of Internal Security (DHS S&T) The Directorate presented a strategy that will guide S&T’s research in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning.

DHS said on Friday that its new AI / OD strategic plan identifies research efforts aimed at increasing S&T’s understanding of the opportunities and risks in the dynamic AI landscape.

The Directorate wants to manage the next generation of AI / ML technologies, to apply these technologies in internal security missions and to develop a workforce of interdisciplinary specialists experienced in AI.

“This action plan sets out how S&T will build and implement cutting-edge experience to help the department take advantage of AI / ML technology while mitigating the risks involved,” he said. Catherine Coulter Mitchell, who serves as DHS’s Deputy Secretary for S&T on an active basis.

The plan supports the overall DHS artificial intelligence strategy published in December 2020.
